This 45 year old female ended up with a lot of extra skin after having 2 kids. She was scheduled for an abdominoplasty for resection of redundant skin. During the course of the procedure, she was also found to have a fatty tumor in her abdominal wall which was resected. Mega Liposuction The "old wives tale" about the massively obese patient being an out of control eater is simply not the case in many of these patients. An internal metabolic machinery often takes control of the body for patients who gain more than 20 lbs in a short amount of time. Once this weight gain of 20 lbs or more occurs, patients lose control and this internal metabolic machinery takes over, compelling a state of constant weight gain. This out of control of weight gain can occur even when patients have normal eating habits. Thus, it is improper to associate massively obese patients with out-of-control eating habits. By doing this, we do injustice to a lot of patients, isolate and alienate individuals for whom it becomes even more difficult. In such patients, mega liposuction may be the right choice of surgery. Mega Liposuction involves performing multiple sessions of liposuction for 4 liters each session as per Florida Law. These procedures often prove to be very successful and rewarding as not only the fat content is reduced, but patients also get cured from most of the concomitant diseases that come along with their obesity such as hypertension and diabetes.
